How To Protect Granite Surfaces Against Stains

March 7, 2022 by Carter Leave a Comment

Natural stones provide stunning diversity and may thus be found in practically any home, workplace, restaurant, and so on. Furthermore, there are several places to visit that already have grown in popularity solely owing to the magnificence of the stones. However, natural stones are permeable and quickly soak fluids. As a result, they are susceptible to severe or persistent marks. While adhesives could prevent liquid absorption, extreme caution is still essential.

There are numerous alternative factors in play if you want your quartz, granite, or other stone to look good for a long time. Stones can soak fluids even after being sealed with ordinary household cleaners or acid-base solutions! You can use the following safeguards to manage your natural stones from staining.

IS GRANITE STAIN-PROOF?

Granite may stain. However, it is pretty unusual that this occurs. Because quartz (and some other stone) is permeable, liquids and colors can seep through. On the other hand, granite is much less absorbent than several different varieties of stone. A natural stone like marble, for instance, is much more permeable than granite.

Here are some methods to prevent granite from staining:-

· Make use of Stone Sealers

Once polishing the marble/granite surfaces or tables is done, apply a premium granite sealant to them. Depending on the context, one will require a stone finishing chemical. Suppose you’ve placed the stone on your building surfaces. In this situation, you’ll need a chemical that shields the surface against humidity, water pollution, UV rays, and other elements. In the indoors, a sealant that prevents the stone from absorbing any fluid is required to keep discoloration at bay.

· Use Appropriate Cleaners

Sealers, even though you might know, prevent stones from absorbing fluids in an attempt to uphold surfaces from stains; if you use standard home cleaning materials to wipe your marble/granite flooring daily, you are ruining the sealing! You may still not notice some instant difference because the strong acid in the cleaning solution varies. As a result, just use a solvent explicitly designed for frequent wiping of natural stones.

· Protect Your Dining Room Table by covering it

Do you have a marble or granite dining room table? If so, you should protect it when eating dinner/lunch/breakfast to avoid food marks on the table! Fruits containing acids, like lemon, grapefruit, and pomegranate, might degrade the sealer’s safety.

· Never postpone removing marks

Perhaps a modest celebration may leave you with something like a dirty house, soiled granite washstand, and so on, and then if you do not wash them soon enough, they may end up in a big problem. As noted in the previous sections, natural stones are permeable, which means they soak fluids and can quickly become discolored and injured if not appropriately maintained.

· Start making use of a wet sponge or a towel

Frequent cleaning is essential with non-abrasive sponges or gentle fabric and hot water. This would protect your stone against scratches and keep its inherent glossy luster for a prolonged period.

· Utilize Floor Mats

Mats’ purpose is to keep filth from invading the structure deeper. You may protect the marbles from damages by adding coasters, mats, or carpets at the entryway and around your entrances.

· Hot dishes should never be placed on the granite

Granite is suitable for a restaurant as heat damage to such a stone is minimal during typical conditions. But hot pans could sometimes cause damage to granite. So, stop putting the hot pan on granite & appreciate its stunning performance for many coming years.

Rock Doctor provides a comprehensive solution to protect and keep your marvelous stones shiny and stunning through their products. The product range of non-acidic, non-abrasive, easy, and safe for use in the kitchen and bath.
