Picture Frames that Reflect Your Personal Style

August 5, 2019 by Carter Leave a Comment

When you receive a certificate for something, whether it be a university degree, a license to practice, an award or an achievement, most people want to display it proudly as testimony to their hard word, dedication and determination to achieve. The best and safest way to display this certificate is to frame it. So, choosing the right certificate frame and framing options is a very important and sometimes difficult task as the desired outcome is to highlight its prestige and importance to you and your life to anyone that sees it.

Buying ready made certificate frames, in some instances, can be a very economical way of getting your certificate on the wall. This type of frame would be recommended for a certificate that must be displayed but its importance to your business or your career isn’t paramount. For example, a certificate of a business name registration or a certificate of compliance etc. It is also important to note that cheap, mass produced, ready made frames are not acid free so the certificate will discolour over time and getting a “yellowing” appearance from the acid seeping into the certificate paper. Therefore, framing a university degree or the like in a ready made frame is not recommended.

For any certificate that needs to be framed to show its importance, whether in your office, your place of business, or even in your home, it is worthwhile searching online for certificate frames perth and visiting a professional picture framer who can help and guide you in choosing the right frame and framing options. The first option that will really give you a prestigious feel is matboards. Matboards give life to certificates that normally would look ordinary and lifeless. Using coloured and textured matboards to highlight the colours of the university emblem or a company logo is a fantastic way to add sophistication and prestige to your achievement. For example, the colours of a university emblem might be navy blue with a gold trim with the rest of the certificate having black writing and a cream coloured paper. Using a navy blue top mat with a gold inner trim would instantly highlight the university emblem while encompassing the certificate and making the certificate the centre of attention. Using matting will also protect the certificate coming into contact with the glass which protects it from condensation and any embossing on the logo or emblem getting flattened.

The second consideration when framing a certificate is the frame itself. There are endless options when choosing a custom picture framer and there are no right or wrong choices. For the most part, choosing a frame comes down to personal style and preference but you may want to consider the place you will be hanging your certificate. If your certificate will follow you in your career and different offices, you may wish to opt for a more timeless look including a timber stained frame or a simple black frame as these colours will generally match any office décor. You could also consider a black or timber stained frame with a gold or silver trim to add a touch of professionalism and prestige. Larger, more elaborate frames can also be used with a wider matboard if you are really looking to make a statement with your hard-earned certificate.

The third consideration for certificate framing is what kind of glass would be required to protect your certificate. Again, if the certificate does not hold a huge value but you would like to display it proudly, clear glass would be sufficient. If you would like to add a touch elegance, non-reflective glass looks fantastic on certificates as it gives a matt finish and light reflection does not impede on the information contained on the certificate. If your certificate is of a higher value, is irreplaceable, rare, or extremely old or fragile it would be recommended to use UV glass. UV glass, depending on the grade, blocks up to 98% of UV light, meaning your certificate will not fade, even in direct sunlight, due to the harmful effects of UV light.

So while there is a lot to consider when framing a certificate and degree framing, using a certificate framing service like a custom picture framer will give you endless possibilities but most importantly the right materials to keep your certificate frame in prestige condition and the perfect look to make it stand out to your customers, your superiors and most of all, you.
