Link Building is Still Alive – Especially Among Amazon Sellers

April 14, 2020 by Carter Leave a Comment

It is alleged by some that link building is dead. As the thinking goes, Google algorithms no longer care all that much about relevant links as long as online content is high-quality and otherwise optimized for SEO. Don’t buy it. Link building is still very much alive. Moreover, it is particularly important to certain kinds of organizations.

Take Amazon sellers. If they were to rely exclusively on Amazon’s search engine to sell their products, many of them would go out of business. There is just too much competition among the more than 12 million products Amazon sells. Sellers have to rely on other ways to engage customers. Link building is one of them.

As such, the best Amazon marketing services include link building strategies. Sellers rely on their marketers to build off-site links capable of driving customers from a variety of different sites directly to their Amazon listings.

Building Links with Guest Posts

Guest posting has become an especially valuable tool for link building. Organizations place posts on third-party websites that are in some way related to their own products and services. Said posts help to establish authority while simultaneously offering the opportunity to include a backlink.

An experienced Amazon marketing company knows the best outlets for certain kinds of posts. Its marketers have contacts that reach far and wide, enabling them to find appropriate guest posting sites for nearly any Amazon store or product listing. These are the kinds of marketers Amazon sellers want working in their corner.

Building Links for Google and Bing

It’s equally important for Amazon sellers to get their products displayed on Google and Bing SERPs. Why? Because a fair amount of the traffic directed to Amazon product listings comes from these two search engines. You’ve seen it yourself if you have ever searched for products through Google rather than going directly to the Amazon site.

You type in your search terms and hit the ‘enter’ button. Just above the organic results are paid ads and Amazon listings. How did those Amazon listings get there? Through strategic link building campaigns.

Other Link Building Opportunities

While guest posts and building links for the major search engines are the primary ways to use links to drive traffic to Amazon listings, marketers have other opportunities to work with. For example, social media promotion. Sites like Facebook and Snapchat are gold mines for link building if you know what you’re doing.

Product reviews on third-party websites are another option. Of course, readers take product reviews with a grain of salt. So content creators have to be especially skilled at crafting good product reviews that don’t come off looking like sales copy. This is yet another reason to hire an Amazon marketing company rather than trying to build links yourself.

Research is Key

Creating a successful link building campaign starts with research. In fact, it is reasonable to say that the depth of one’s research largely determines the success of one’s link building campaign. Marketers have to understand what the competition is doing. They have to understand the types of keywords and phrases customers use when searching for a given product.

An Amazon marketing company unwilling to put the time and effort into research is not going to get very good results. The other side of that coin is doing so much research that more traffic is being driven to Amazon listings from off-site sources than onsite searches. Indeed, that is the golden egg of Amazon SEO.

Link building is certainly not dead in 2020. It is very much alive, particularly among Amazon sellers who need all the help they can get to cut through the fog and drive customers to their product pages.
