Quick Tips for Setting Up a Digital Marketing Strategy

June 3, 2020 by Carter Leave a Comment

Getting started with a digital marketing strategy may not be your priority right now but if the Coronavirus pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that being online and having a digital presence is super important. Companies and businesses who don’t have a strategy on social media or even a website, have suffered in multiple ways during the pandemic which has led to countless jobs being made redundant and other tragedies too. Interested in some quick tips for how you can set up a digital marketing strategy on your own? We have made a list of everything you need to consider and how a digital strategy will positively impact your business.

Anyone who doesn’t feel up the challenge of setting up an online strategy or who needs that extra support of professionals may want to hire an SEO agency. Agencies know what they’re doing, they’re essentially specialists in the field of marketing and digital. Therefore, you should trust them to do all the hard work if you’re struggling.

Consider your audience

If you’ve had an established business for a long time, or even if you’re just setting out, you will want to set up your strategy with your audience in mind. Tone of voice is key when you’re thinking of email or content marketing (two key elements of any digital strategy). Plus, you want to make sure that you know who your audience is when you’re setting up paid ads. When it comes to advertising, you want to use your money as effectively as possible. This means considering your audience before setting your ad budget could be the best way to make the most of your money (since you won’t be wasting the budget on people who won’t convert).

Trial and error your ad audience and budget

If you’re new to setting up Facebook or Instagram ads then you won’t know the amount of trial and error that goes into setting them up. You may want to trial some different audience types as well as changing up your budget. However, try to spend as little money as possible to see what works best. When you find a winning ad set, you can then scale the budget on this and spend more on acquiring customers. Ultimately you want to increase the budget on your ads when you know they’re going to convert.

Remember your branding

No matter what aspect you’re looking at when it comes to digital marketing, you have to always remember your branding. There are countless companies out there who create social media channels and run ads completely separate to their branding. However, if you keep all your digital marketing strategy in line with your branding then people will start to recognise you online and eventually trust you. Loyal customers and a trusted following is definitely something you need in the digital world to separate you from everyone else.

Do your research

While you may think you know everything there is to know out there, you definitely don’t. Do your research into your niche and into an effective strategy just to be sure you’re on the right lines. Research is a key element to success and this is especially true when it comes to your business or companies digital online presence. It may even be beneficial to compare what your competitors are doing because in order to be the best, you have to be better than the rest.

Leverage organic social media

So many businesses simply use paid social media to attract people to their business. However, organic social media is also another very effective way you can gain more followers and even convert customers too. Leveraging organic social media could even mean that you move away from paid ads and start interacting with your audience and followers. The magic of organic social media followers is very powerful and it’s often that they’re more loyal customers when it comes to purchasing on your website too.

Read up on SEO

If you’re not wanting to work with an agency, then reading up on SEO is a must. Organic traffic is a free and effective way to drive more people to your products and services. Therefore, if you know the basic SEO practices, you’re sure to optimise your pages and see a surge in organic traffic. There are so many ecommerce and service-based businesses out there who don’t take notice of their SEO and if they were to do so, they’d see a huge positive impact. Don’t be scared by the in-depth information available out there, simply reading a beginners guide to SEO will help you out.
