The Best Tech Jobs for Introverts

November 19, 2019 by Carter Leave a Comment

Let’s avoid the assumption that introverts have less potential in achieving career success. While there are a lot of jobs that involves dealing socially with people, there are a lot of opportunities for introverts, especially in the tech industry. You can find a career that suits your personality and desired work conditions. You may still be a part of the team and will require you to report your tasks every now and then, but these jobs will involve lesser interaction with other individuals and will allow you to work alone. If you believe that you’d be suited to a career in the IT industry, here’s a list of tech jobs that are particularly suited to introverts.

Software Engineer

As a software engineer you’ll spend the vast majority of your time developing new software systems, integrating these systems into a business and solving problems in order to fix bugs in the software which you have designed. Instead of having to talk to clients or to work with a team, you’ll spend much of your working days coding and testing out software to see if your coding is working properly or needs to be fine-tuned.

You can also find a tech job in San Francisco where many startup companies are beginning to rise. It may be best for you to work on a startup as you won’t have to deal with a lot of team members. Aside from that, you will also be able to hone your leadership potential without being intimidated by a big crowd.

Web Developer

Becoming a web developer is another great idea if you’re an introvert who would like to pursue a career in the IT industry as you’ll even have the option of developing websites in the comfort of your own home. If you’ll be working in an office, however, you’ll still have to talk with your teammates about your projects and other work-related stuff.

Cybersecurity Engineer

If you have an engineering background or are passionate about finding and creating new online security systems, you may be interested in pursuing a career as a cybersecurity engineer. Your main goal is to ensure that the organization you’re working for has a security system to protect the company’s important files as well as your customers’ confidential data.

Better yet, you’ll be able to have little to no face to face contact with your clients, as you’ll usually be given a brief instruction of their preferences, which will help you design the best security plans for each company that you deal with. So if you’re okay with making occasional phone calls and having 1-2 meetings with a point of contact at each business, you may be fit to be a cybersecurity engineer.

Final Thoughts

Aside from considering your personality to determine the career that best suits you, you should always be looking at your skills and knowledge. Most tech jobs require logical and analytical skills. It involves a lot of software development tasks and will require you to solve problems on softwares and systems. While it is known that introverts prefer working alone, you should also practice dealing with different types of people without letting yourself get exhausted.
