Do you notice that you’re carrying a little extra weight around with you these days? As we age, losing weight can become more of a prominent struggle. Some people battle with learning to choose the right things to eat while others just need a little more physical activity in their day. Experts like Dominique Fradin-Read say that sleeping well, eating healthy, and exercising often can help you live a longer, healthier life and prevent serious illnesses. Even if you don’t have the time to be a regular at the gym, there are still some creative ways to sneak exercise into your daily schedule.
In the Office
One way to add exercise is at work. When you have a break, instead of sitting down, go for a walk around the building or campus. Instead of having your lunch delivered, you could walk to get yourself take-out if it’s close enough to manage. If you normally take the elevator in your building, you could take the stairs instead to get a good workout.
In the House
When you’re at home, there are many different ways you could fit in some simple exercises. Even if the weather prohibits walking outdoors, it’s still possible to find some physical fitness indoors. Situps and pushups are excellent workout options that you can do inside your house without needing any extra equipment. These exercises don’t take a lot of time to complete, either. Standing squats are another simple exercise choice that you can do at home as well. Just a few sets of these activities each day can really help boost your level of physical fitness. If you’re new to these exercises, you can also hire a home personal trainer to help you get started.
In the Grocery Store
Your regular grocery runs could easily supply an opportunity for some extra exercise. One way to do this is to park further away in the parking lot when you go to the store. Doing this automatically gives you an extra walk to get to the front of the store. When you’re in the store, you could take a trip around the perimeter of the store to check out the sales before you start getting the items on your list.
Whether you’re at work, at home, or out running errands, there’s always a way to burn a few extra calories with physical activity. Taking the stairs instead, doing a few situps in your house, and walking further to get groceries can all help you achieve fitness goals and trim down.
