Marijuana Should Be Legalized; Here Is Why

April 9, 2021 by Carter Leave a Comment

A few states have legitimized cannabis as of late, either for therapeutic use, recreational use, or both. Be that as it may, ownership or utilization of the medication is viewed as wrongdoing at the government level and in many states.

The consumption of marijuana is either done through inhalation or oral delivery. Users smoke marijuana through vaping, hand pipes, water pipes, hookahs, and rolling paper. For oral delivery, the use of tinctures, ingestible oils, and edibles are the most common. People who prefer edibles, for example, infuse cannabis into their foods or drinks. Some even crush marijuana seeds and sprinkle them on snacks and other foods.

The fact that many states are legalizing the use of marijuana is proof that authorities and the public alike have to gain a better understanding that the benefits of marijuana outweigh any possible side effects. Also, considering that the United Nations, following recommendations from the World Health Organization, removed marijuana from the list of the most dangerous drugs is more reason why governments should legalize its use.

In this article, we are going to look at the various reasons why marijuana should be legalized. and how Online Medical Card help you.

Let us delve into specifics.

Marijuana has various health benefits

Medical marijuana contains a component known as CBD which has various health benefits. It is the number one factor that has led more and more states to legalize the use of cannabis. Companies like Seed Supreme use advanced technology to extract CBD that they use to create a wide range of marijuana products that ailing patients can use.

One of the most common uses of medical marijuana is in relieving pain. The cannabinoids found in weed are effective at providing chronic pain relief. As such, doctors prescribe cannabis to cancer patients, among others.

Additionally, marijuana is also used to treat depression and anxiety. In other cases, it is used to regulate seizures, treat glaucoma, and ensure the slow development of Alzheimer’s disease. All these are perks people can leverage if only governments legalized the use of marijuana.

  • Unstable Legal Ground

There are reasons why laws exist. While a few key players in the state of affairs guarantee that the strict laws governing the use of cannabis keep individuals from hurting themselves, research has proven time and time again that the use of marijuana has its benefits.

Understandably, governments prohibiting the use of cannabis have good intentions for their citizens. In its defense, these laws are against self-hurt and a strategy to safeguard the life, health, and overall well-being of its citizens. The irony of the matter is that drugs like cigarettes and alcohol are legal. Cigarettes contain tobacco that is more harmful to the body

  • Enforcement of the Law Is Unnecessarily Cruel

When you look at the statistics, it is only a matter of time before you find many people whose lives have been destroyed by the laws governing marijuana possession. Entrepreneurs who are looking to have a successful career in the sale of medical marijuana also undergo strict scrutiny even in states where selling cannabis is legalized. Businesses have to meet requirements, which a far more complex than other businesses.

When it comes to individuals, more than half a million of them are arrested by the authorities every year. Whether they were taking them for recreational or medical purposes, these ‘convicts’ are forced into jail. While in the jail system, they interact with murders and other notorious crooks, increasing the likelihood of them transitioning from first-time wrongdoers into criminals.

  • Compromises Criminal Justice Goals

The role of criminal justice is to safeguard the interests of its citizens. However, by continuing to prohibit the use of marijuana, cartels continue to form underground supply channels. These systems have created mafias in the trade, with most of the associated individuals going scot-free.

By legalizing the use of marijuana, the government will have gotten rid of these dangerous underground channels. It also presents an opportunity for them to closely monitor the trade and bring to justice marijuana traders who operate outside state regulations.

  • Rules Enforcement is becoming even more difficult

It is no secret that the number of people using weed for luxury or medical purposes is skyrocketing. Over 2 million people use it in the United States alone. Considering that the stigma surrounding the use and distribution of marijuana has significantly gone down, it becomes hard to arrest users and traders alike. All parties are discrete, consuming marijuana in the comfort of their homes, making it harder to zero in on all culprits.

These practices are what undermine efforts to uphold rule enforcement. Legalizing marijuana plays against this, by allowing people to use it without the fear. Doing so will also not drive the industry underground, allowing authorities insight into the trade.

  • It can be profitable to the government

The law requires businessmen to pay taxes. It is one of the ways governments use to acquire the money they can use to make developments and provide better services to their citizens.

As stated earlier, the marijuana trading restrictions force entrepreneurs and consumers to operate on the low. Considering that the cannabis industry is profitable, governments are missing out on an opportunity to make money. By legalizing the distribution of weed, governments will tax businesses, adding into their stream of income-generating practices.

  • There are other far more harmful drugs

The fact that tobacco is legal is a reality that many people find unfathomable. Tobacco, specifically, has no health benefits. On the contrary, it has adverse effects on the body. For instance, tobacco is the number one culprit responsible for lung cancer, a condition that researchers cannot link to the use of marijuana. Another condition that has been linked to tobacco usage and not to cannabis consumption is heart disease.

Another legal drug that is far more harmful is alcohol. Alcohol consumption should be done in moderation. However, overuseoveruse has been associated with certain types of cancers, pancreatitis, heart muscle damage, stroke, high blood pressure, accidental serious injuries, and many other diseases. These are conditions that many people are losing their lives to.
