Sometimes, you have to change your eating habits because these are causing staining on teeth. Here are some prominent causes of yellow teeth.

  • Diet: Some foods are high in tannins like red wine. These can make your teeth yellow. Drinking beverages like wine, soda, and coffee are common reasons for tooth discoloration. Substances like tannins can reach your enamel and cause long-term discoloration.
  • Illness: Particular medications and medical conditions can be the reason for yellow teeth. Chemotherapy for neck and head cancers can develop stained or yellow teeth. Moreover, medicines of high blood pressure and asthma may cause yellow teeth.
  • Smoking: While talking about causes of yellow teeth, smoking can’t be ignored. It is a significant cause of stains on teeth. Yellow stains on teeth because of smoking are stubborn. Smokers can improve this situation by quitting smoking and following a whole routine of oral care. Make sure to do toothbrush twice a day. Daily flossing can help you to remove stubborn stains from teeth. Moreover, you will need teeth-whitening products.
  • Fluoride: Excessive exposure to fluoride can increase the chances of yellow teeth in children.
  • Poor Oral Care: Poor oral care is another reason for yellow teeth. Some diligent flossers and brushers can develop discolored teeth. Chances of yellow teeth or discoloration may increase with age.

If you can’t smile because of your yellow teeth, feel free to use natural remedies to restore their sparkle and whiteness. Consider the reasons for yellow teeth and address them accordingly for better results. Different treatment options are available for a bright, white smile. You can consider home whitening strips, rinses, toothpaste, and gels. There are various ways to get rid of yellow teeth.

Teeth Whitening by Professionals

Visit your dentist office for professional teeth whitening. They can use a bleaching agent to clean your teeth. Some special lasers and lights are available to enhance the effects of bleach. Based on the conditions of yellow teeth, you may need several treatments. These treatments may vary between 30 minutes and one hour.

Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening

You can try different teeth whitening remedies at home. These remedies are absolutely safe for everyone.

Oil Pulling

Start with this traditional method to remove toxins from the body and improve your oral hygiene. For oil pulling, you have to swish oil around in the mouth to remove toxins and bacteria. It is essential to remove bacteria because these can become plaque and make your teeth yellow.

Sesame or sunflower oil are popular choices for oil pulling. You can consider coconut oil for its pleasant taste and extra health benefits. This oil has uric acid that is famous for killing bacteria and decreasing inflammation. Regular oil pulling can effectively reduce bacteria, gingivitis, and plaque in your mouth.

Oil pulling is specifically beneficial to remove Streptococcus mutans from the mouth. This type of bacteria is often responsible for gingivitis and plaque. Regular swishing with oil (especially sesame oil) can decrease this bacterium in saliva. For oil pulling, put only 1 tablespoon of oil in the mouth and push it through your teeth. Continue this process for almost 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure to spit the oil in a trash can or toilet. Oil pulling will not expose your teeth and enamel to acid and other harmful ingredients responsible for eroding your enamel.

Use Baking Soda

Brushing with baking soda is an old method to get rid of yellow teeth. Baking soda is famous for its natural whitening ability. For this reason, it is a vital ingredient in all commercial toothpaste. With its mild abrasive nature, it can scrub away stains from your teeth. Baking soda can create an alkaline atmosphere in the mouth to prevent the growth of bacteria.

However, you will not notice overnight results with baking soda. It will make your teeth white gradually. To use baking soda, mix 2 teaspoons of water and 1 teaspoons of baking soda. Prepare a mixture and apply this paste to brush your teeth. Do these 4 to 5 times a week. Baking soda is easily available at grocery stores.

Clean Teeth with Hydrogen Peroxide

It is a natural bleaching agent to kill bacteria of your mouth. People are using this bleaching agent for years to sanitize wounds. Numerous commercial whitening products have hydrogen peroxide. Try to use diluted concentrations of hydrogen peroxide because overuse or intense concentration can irritate your gums. Overuse of this agent can make increase sensitivity of your tooth.

Feel free to use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash. You can prepare a diluted mixture by mixing equal parts of water and peroxide. Moreover, mix it with baking soda to make a paste. Combine baking soda (1 teaspoon) and hydrogen peroxide (2 teaspoons) and gently apply this mixture on your teeth. You can use it 2 to 3 times a week because overuse can hurt your tooth enamel.

Apple Cider Vinegar

It is famous as a natural cleaning product and disinfectant. Acetic acid is an active ingredient in cider vinegar. This ingredient is sufficient to kill bacteria. With antibacterial properties, apple vinegar is useful to whiten your teeth and clean your mouth. Apple cider vinegar can clean your teeth with its bleaching effects. However, vinegar can soften your teeth.

The acetic acid in apple vinegar can erode your tooth enamel. Therefore, you must not use it regularly. Make sure to use it twice a week to remove yellow stains. Feel free to use it as a mouthwash after diluting it with water. Swish it for a few minutes in all directions in your mouth. Use plain water to rinse your mouth after using apple cider vinegar.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

For a healthy body and strong teeth, you should have fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet. By chewing raw vegetables and fruits, you can remove plaques from your teeth. Pineapples and strawberries are suitable fruits to remove yellow stains from teeth.

Mixture of Baking Soda and Strawberries

You can use baking soda and strawberry mixture to whiten your teeth. The malic acid in strawberries can treat discoloration on teeth, and baking soda is good to buff away yellow stains. Strawberries can be an excellent exfoliator for your teeth.

To use strawberry and baking soda blend, smash up one fresh strawberry and mix it with one tablespoon of baking soda. Brush this blend on your teeth at least twice a week.

Eat Pineapple

Pineapple contains bromelain; therefore, this fruit is useful for teeth whitening. To get the benefits of pineapple, frequently consume raw pieces of fruit. It will help you to keep your teeth bright.

Limit the Consumption of Staining Beverages and Food

Yellow stains are common on teeth in older people. If you want to avoid stains on teeth, you should limit staining beverages and food. Soda, dark berries, red wine, and coffee are common names for staining teeth. It doesn’t mean to avoid them altogether, but you can limit their consumption.

Use a straw for drinking beverages to avoid their direct contact with teeth. Brush your teeth after consuming these food items. Moreover, avoid chewing tobacco and smoking. Both can be the main reason for tooth discoloration.

If you want healthy and white teeth, it is essential to cut back sugar intake in your diet. A diet with sugar can increase the growth of bacteria, especially Streptococcus mutans bacteria. This type of bacteria is responsible for gingivitis and plaque.

Whitening Strips

Whitening strips come with a reedy coat of peroxide gel on a plastic strip. These are designed to fit on your teeth. Consult your dentist before using whitening strips. Read the instructions of your strips before reading them. Many brands suggest you apply these strips two times a day for almost 30 minutes. Strips can decrease the yellow color or stains of your teeth gradually.

Increase Calcium in Your Diet

Sometimes, enamel eroding becomes the reason for tooth discoloration. For this reason, you have to strengthen your tooth enamel. Calcium-rich meals are necessary for healthy teeth. Try to include broccoli, cheese, and milk in your diet for protection of tooth enamel. Remember, stay away from teeth-whitening methods involving oranges, activated charcoal, and lemons. These items can harm your tooth enamel.

Visit a Dentist

Natural remedies may whiten your teeth gradually. These methods may work slowly, so wait patiently. If you are not noticing considerable changes, visit a Dentist in Carson. Several dentists may offer active whitening treatments. They may use bleaching agents to treat severe discoloration. Contact a qualified dentist for instant teeth whitening and then maintain the whiteness of your teeth with natural remedies.
