February 5, 2020 by Carter Leave a Comment

As the second-largest state in the United States, Texas is full of history and amazing attractions. This state is diverse and has plenty of awe-inspiring landscapes and amazing attractions. Complete with every possible geographical terrain from desert and mountain ranges, to beaches and metropolitan cities. The following list features ten attractions that Texas visitors simply must see when they visit the Lone Star State.

Six Flags Over Texas

The Six Flags Over Texas Amusement Park is located near Arlington and Dallas, Texas. Six Flags is one of the most family-friendly attractions in the state. The park has something for young and old alike. Known for its roller coasters (like the Texas Giant and Texas SkyScreamer) and also has multiple rides based on Looney Tunes themes.

San Antonio Zoo

The zoo has always been a place that is fun for the whole family. Animal lovers will love a family outing at the San Antonio Zoo. This zoo is home to the nation’s first exhibit specifically designed to cater to young children, Kronkosky’s Tiny Tot Spot.

The Alamo

Established in 1718, the Alamo is by far one of America’s most historic sites. The location got its fame during the Texas Revolution, when a team of fighters, including James Bowie and Davie Crockett, barricaded themselves against 3,000 Mexican soldiers.

Big Bend National Park

Located next to the Rio Grande, this desert paradise is home to 1,200 plant species. This park is also the home of the Chisos Mountains, known for its popularity by hiker and backpackers.

Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah Boardwalk is located just 20 minutes from downtown Houston. This area seems to be an unlikely place for beaches and waterfronts. This destination features 35 acres of rides, games, and food.

Space Center Houston

As the official visitor’s center for NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Space Center Houston is a must-see if you are in the Houston area. This location has over 400 space artifacts, including spacecraft that have flown in space missions.

The Sixth Floor Museum

There are more than just beautiful Dallas houses for sale for those that find themselves in the area. The Sixth Floor Museum is the exact location where the fatal shot was fired that killed beloved president John F. Kennedy.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

Home to the four highest mountain peaks in Texas, Guadalupe Mountains National Park is located 100 miles east of El Paso and is home to an abundance of wildlife. There are also more than 80 miles of trails and breathtaking views in the park.

Cadillac Ranch

Cadillac Ranch features a series of vehicles buried nose-deep into the ground. While this is a strange attraction, it is one of the most iconic sites in West Texas. Visitors are welcome to add their own spray-painted artwork to the vehicles here.

Fort Worth Stockyards

Initially opened for business in the 1890s, Fort Worth Stockyards became the prime location to buy and sell cattle in Texas. Today, there are daily cattle drives and rodeos for visitors to enjoy.

Conclusion

Texas has always been a place for visitors to enjoy diverse settings, and have a myriad of wonderful experiences. If you are in Texas, visit the destinations listed above for a memorable getaway.
