Usually, we travel through Arizona as part of a tour of the American great west, somewhere between a trip to Las Vegas and a visit to the coast. Arizona deserves a stop. This state contains a lot of impressive wonders. Natural wonders in the first place with well-known stars but also more confidential corners. For an affordable but yet excellent stay in Arizona, Talking Stick Resort is the place to stay for tourists. It makes a tourist feel just right at home while they take their time to visit these awesome sites.
1. The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon, it is nice to prepare for it, to know that it is gigantic and magnificent, when one finds oneself in front, one is amazed. A natural wonder carved out by the Colorado River, a site of glowing and changing colors, the Grand Canyon is unveiled to visitors from several points of view in Arizona. It is also advisable to walk along the south shore to appreciate it, not in its entirety because it is rather difficult, but to take the time to soak up its almost surreal beauty.
2. Glen Canyon
The Glen Canyon can be visited from the small and welcoming town of Page. We can start by going to the dam on Lake Powell and why not just continue through the lake, which admires during multiple hikes or from an airplane. And most importantly, do not miss the Horseshoe Bend, the beautiful Colorado meander that is not far away.
3. Antelope Canyon
If you dream of immersing yourself completely in the kind of landscape you see in the 127 Hours movie (without the part of cutting your arm), it’s up to Antelope Canyon to go (although the film was not shot there). An incredible place in the Navajo reserve, not far from Page. We embark in cars and we enter this groove with smooth walls that take surreal shades following the inclination of the sun. And if you have the choice between upper and lower, the upper is preferred. Even if the guided tours are a bit expensive (it takes between $ 50 and $ 60 depending on the providers).
4. The Hoover Dam
Everyone who has traveled from Monument Valley to Las Vegas is bound to pass near Hoover Dam, with long lines of visitors waiting to get to the site from the highway. Completed in 1935, this dam on the Colorado that formed Lake Mead (the largest man-made lake in the country), is an engineering marvel that never ceases to fascinate the crowds.
5. Tombstone
A key location in American history that saw Wyatt Earp and his brothers with Doc Holliday confronting brothers McLaury and Clanton when settling accounts at t Corral, Tombstone is now a popular tourist destination. You can attend re-enactments, ride in a carriage and soak up the atmosphere.
Bonus: The former mining town of Oatman
Otherwise known as the city of donkeys, they wander as they want in the small town, go into the shops, feed themselves at the mercy of tourists before planting themselves stupidly in the middle of roads. If you go through on a weekend you may have the chance to see “shotgun show” between fake cowboys.
